PROJECT AWARDS – THAT’S LIT!

As BG Buildingworks closes out 2022, the company has exciting news to share! Two projects win LIT Design Awards; one project wins outright while a second earns an honorable mention in another category. The awards recognize the efforts of talented international lighting product designers and lighting designers and a jury panel selects the 2022 winners from more than 650 submissions from 51 countries. Enlighten Design Studio by BG Buildingworks won for their lighting design in the Restaurant and Bar Light category for Brush Creek Farms, an all-inclusive luxury resort in Wyoming.

This 30,000-acre ranch offers an array of amenities and strives to create a welcoming home-away-from-home feeling for all guests. To create this experience, lighting plays a unique part in crafting spaces where people want to be and linger. Specifically, mockup and aiming ensures dining tables use lighting precision to create ambiance. Correspondingly, intentional lighting highlights the vast artwork throughout the different areas on the ranch. Additionally, lighting also makes back bars pop while showcasing the extensive wine and spirit collections. Enlighten Design Studio’s design filters harmful UV wavelengths from traditional light sources in the wine storage room to minimize potential impacts on the valuable collection. No matter where light is prominently positioned or where it is supposed to be perfectly discrete, Enlighten Design Studio’s work skillfully creates an pleasing environment for all to relax and savor their surroundings.

PROJECT AWARDS – THAT’S LIT! THE SEQUEL

Closing out a year means a lot of different things. One of the highlights is a season of recognition and it is thrilling for BG Buildingworks to share some good news on the project front. Two projects win LIT Design Awards; one project wins outright while a second earns an honorable mention in another category. The awards recognize the efforts of talented international lighting product designers and lighting designers. A jury panel selects the 2022 winners from more than 650 submissions from 51 countries. Enlighten Design Studio by BG Buildingworks earns an Honorable Mention for their lighting design in the Hotel Lighting category for W Hotel (Sky Hotel) in Aspen, Colorado.

A boutique hotel in the heart of the mountain oasis of Aspen, the hotel is situated at the base of a ski area. Consisting of 88 guestrooms and 11 branded residences, the W Hotel treats guests to luxe amenities such as a cool looking DJ booth, rooftop pool decks, and special event space. Despite code-driven height restrictions, Enlighten Design Studio’s team led by Tia Nord, LC worked to creatively maximize limited ceiling heights by using direct and indirect light. Additionally, the lighting design minimizes energy consumption with LED sources across the property and integrates them as much as possible. Lastly, the hotel uses a centralized dimming control system in coordination with stand-alone room controls with occupancy sensors. This centralized system allows specified areas including the lobby and lounge to create different lighting uses throughout the day.

BG Buildingworks proudly sponsors internships throughout the year with a focus on interacting with the next generation of engineers and designers, primarily during the summer months. With a strategic approach to building relationships with key academic programs across the country, BG actively participates in fall and winter/spring career fairs and on-campus interviews.

For the 2022 Summer Internship Program, BG had two stellar interns helping out on projects. Abbey Meier (Kansas State University) and Weston Kimmey (Penn State University) joined the local teams in BG’s Denver and Avon offices, respectively. Their internships bridged their academic studies with real-life exposure to 3D+, Revit, design calculations, local and state codes, and witnessing the construction process during site visits. Thank you Abbey and Weston for a great summer and good luck in your upcoming school year. BG is excited to keep in touch with you both!
