The new mixed-use facility at the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport provides fire rescue, maintenance, and affordable housing facilities.

BG Buildingworks worked with the project’s owners to provide engineering services and incorporate LEED principles.

The services included:

  • A standby generator to backup runway lighting
  • Indirect lighting for office areas
  • Three residential units
  • MEP, lighting design and construction administration services to assist in attaining a LEED certified building
  • A maintenance area including a shop for repair and maintenance of airport and fire rescue vehicles

Additionally, the LEED principles incorporated light pollution reduction, optimized energy performance, water use reduction, ventilation effectiveness and indoor chemical and pollutant source control.

The project earned a LEED Silver certification from the USGBC.
