With the expansions within their campus and a growing local community, Christus St. Vincent Hospital identified the need to upgrade the hospital’s chiller plant. This improvement better prepared the campus for future needs. With this in mind, Christus St. Vincent Hospital hired BG to replace and relocate the existing chiller plant to address not only the current load, but future cooling load needs.

BG performed a validation review of the five-year-old plant master plan and provided recommendations based on life cycle costing and strategic energy consumption measures (ECM).
The project team identified and recommended mechanical and electrical master plan plant upgrade options and strategic ECMs for implementation in conjunction with the chiller replacement. The options and ECMs were structured to reduce risks, increase reliability, provide redundancy, reduce plant operating and maintenance costs, and maximize Return on Investment (ROI). In addition, BG’s project team assembled as well as coordinated design and construction teams to provide an integrated project approach to help the hospital maximize patient care and administrative and facilities department stakeholders.
