Project Awards – That’s LIT! The Sequel

December 15, 2022

Closing out a year means a lot of different things. One of the highlights is a season of recognition and it is thrilling for BG Buildingworks to share some good news on the project front. Two projects win LIT Design Awards; one project wins outright while a second earns an honorable mention in another category. The awards recognize the efforts of talented international lighting product designers and lighting designers. A jury panel selects the 2022 winners from more than 650 submissions from 51 countries. Enlighten Design Studio by BG Buildingworks earns an Honorable Mention for their lighting design in the Hotel Lighting category for W Hotel (Sky Hotel) in Aspen, Colorado.

A boutique hotel in the heart of the mountain oasis of Aspen, the hotel is situated at the base of a ski area. Consisting of 88 guestrooms and 11 branded residences, the W Hotel treats guests to luxe amenities such as a cool looking DJ booth, rooftop pool decks, and special event space. Despite code-driven height restrictions, Enlighten Design Studio’s team led by Tia Nord, LC worked to creatively maximize limited ceiling heights by using direct and indirect light. Additionally, the lighting design minimizes energy consumption with LED sources across the property and integrates them as much as possible. Lastly, the hotel uses a centralized dimming control system in coordination with stand-alone room controls with occupancy sensors. This centralized system allows specified areas including the lobby and lounge to create different lighting uses throughout the day.
