BG provided commissioning services for Commerce City’s new Civic and Justice Center. This facility was a major part of the City’s transformation of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal into a new urban, civic and recreation area.
The new facility utilizes significant sustainable features in its design. The majority of the space includes access-floor and under-floor air distribution to enhance energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and indoor air quality. Waterless urinals and ultra-low flow plumbing fixtures provide for water conservation. Daylighting with window glazing, exterior sunshades and interior light louvers in the upper daylighting windows, as well as occupancy sensors, energy-efficient light fixtures, and dimmable ballasts conserve energy.
Some of the notable systems in the new building include underfloor distribution, rooftop air conditioning units, fan-powered terminal units, high-efficiency boiler plant, exhaust systems, domestic hot water systems, and new lighting control systems.
The systems in the building provided a comfortable environment for all building occupants. The building owners were confident that all systems performed as designed upon acceptance. A reduction in energy costs is directly attributable to BG’s work.
