The UCD Health and Wellness Center is a state-of-the-art facility designed to help individuals change to a healthier lifestyle. A unique learning environment encourages patients to continue through the process.
BG provided LEED commissioning authority services for the approximately 95,000 square foot Health and Wellness Center. The project consisted of a four-story research and fitness facility with a natatorium located on the basement level.
The owner, design team, and commissioning agent worked closely together evaluating the most suited systems to minimize energy usage.
Installation review and performance verification were confirmed during construction and operations phases.
The campus distribution chilled water and steam systems are distributed through the building to energy recovery ventilation air handlers and are controlled by a campus-wide Siemens control system.
The third-party commissioning during the design, construction and post-construction phases for the new center included offices, meeting spaces, an athletic area, and rehabilitation (therapy) pools. The systems are connected through the buildings automation system and are served by the central plant and the water systems.
